Unfortunately I spent too much of the last year commuting in ways that didn't involve a bicycle. The move out of town (32 miles from work via the shortest route possible) has made it rather difficult to get up the gumption to ride to work, or even to the commuter rail. But I tried riding to the commuter rail this morning (a little over 8 miles) and found it to be more enjoyable than expected.
My Bike Friday Season Tikit had some issues for a while there but at this point everything seems to be worked out and it's become the commuting partner I always wanted it to be. One note on gear, I can't really recommend MKS FD-6 folding pedals. For one I rarely used the folding option. It does make the bike only slightly less wide mainly on the left hand side since the handle bars and cables stick out way more than the pedal does on the right. But, the bearings died remarkably quickly and the platform was less than grippy, especially when wet. So I was at the Bikes Not Bombs Shop and I picked up some MKS Touring pedals. Way, way better, more grip, better bearings and eliminated some hot spots on my feet on longer rides as well.
